What's going on with me...

So I'm exactly as computer illiterate as I've always thought myself to be. My goal is to post a button at the side of my blog that will introduce you to my new business, unfortunately, it keeps getting lost in the maze that is blogdom and it can't break free. I was told I needed to use a hyper-link, even that term is too trekkie for me. So here is my new button and a link to follow. www.socretail.com/lisapaskins Go make someone's day and send them a card, just because you can. You don't have to do your hair, change out of your pajamas or drive to the closest box store, just do it from home. You can also send a gift. IN any case, check it out and let me know what you think.

Simplicity

No matter how crazy life seems the beauty can always be found in the simple things. As you may have noticed this blog is in a state of transition. I'm still taking pictures, my current projects include some fashion photography for my daughter. She wants to score a front page view on a sewing blog. It's fun to work with her again. She was married and away from home before I started my photograpy business so it's fun to see it benefit her life now. Few of you may know that I also write fiction. I'm currently working on a romantic suspense novel with a hospital theme. Gee, I wonder where that comes from? I'm also having so much fun in my other business. I write and send cards. Cards of humor, celebration, sympathy and just because I can. On another burner, I'm working on the final details of serving a humanitarian mission, and that has been like the wild toad ride at Disneyland with a little more elevation and death defying drops. So enjoy what life brings you, capture a memory. This picture was shot with a large f-stop so the background would blur. Have a great day, unless of course, you have something else planned.

What's a photo blog without photos?

So gang, like many bloggers out there, my life is it's own form of barely controlled chaos. I'm overwhelmed with all the many opportunities in my life. After about a month of computer technology headaches I've resumed blogging. I've happened upon an opportunity to make extra money, and I don't mean just a little money. I mean the kind of money that you quit your day job for. Maybe not right away, but on the horizon in 2-5 years I could be independently wealthy. And it's not exclusive, I could take all of my readers with me. So I ask myself, what is the big hold up? Grab the brass ring and go for it. I bump smack dab into the boundaries of my comfort zone. My belief system never allowed me to expect wealth, much less dream of it. We are afterall the sum of our own beliefs. The very foundation upon which I have based many of my life goals and daily decisions is being challenged. So I guess my question is if you had the opportunity to get into a mlm on the ground level in a stable company that you believed in, would you do it? If so, where does your courage come from and if not, what is preventing you? I know the outcome if I do nothing, it's the unknown if I do something that has me thoughtful today.

The real resolutions for 2011

After careful consideration I have come up with 5 things to improve my life this year. 1) Find the joy again. So many fun things have become chores. I want them to be fun again. A little bit less planning and more serendipity. 2) Find my balance. And I don't mean my checking book balance but that place in your life where you feel centered and comfortable. Things aren't perfect but nothing is in total chaos either. 3) Eat less, enough said. 4) Move more, goes with number 3. and 5)Thank people more. Kind of goes with Salt Lake City's mayors plan to teach civility. I'm part of a great home business that allows me to send cards from home. I have access to this amazing card catalog and I can use a font created to match my handwriting and use my actual signature. It just makes it so fun and so easy. I think of someone I want to share a message with and seconds later, it's addressed, stamped and waiting to be mailed. It's great! You can check it out by going to www.SOCretail.com/LisaPaskins. It really is a blessing in my life. Happy New Year one and all. May all of your lives be abundantly blessed.

My 2011 resolutions....

As this is my first post of 2011 I thought it fitting to include my resolutions. Like many other people my resolutions this year are very similiar to resolutions I have selected in past years. Not because I failed in years past but because I was so successful, and I want to focus on succeeding again this year. Therefore, I resolve to gain 5 pounds. (Truthfully, I'm usually an overachiever in this area.) I resolve to say something I regret each day. (Thank heavens I have understanding friends. I think it's just an occupational hazzard when your mouth is faster than your brain and you gave up filtering your thoughts at the age of forty.) And I resolve to be more comfortable with using the word "no". That covers it, don't be shy, post your resolutions in the comment section and go out and make a memory today.

What about trains and little boys?

I love repeat business. It's the best. The subject, (you) already knows the photographer, (me) and we know how each other works. I know when you get nervous in front of the camera your shoulders rise towards your ears. Most of my clients, maybe not you, are directionally challenged and get confused with turn left and right, so I remember to point or nod in the direction that I mean. And after all half of the time I mean my right which would be your left so I probably create the confusion. But even better than that, if you have chosen me to be your photographer again, it's the highest form of compliment. The product you received from one of my photo sessions was one that you wanted to repeat. Thank you and tell all your friends. Well, not all your friends, just the ones you like.

Nothing sweeter than a little girl....

I love to "colorize" photos. It came in really handy with these little girls. Mom was a little concerned that her choice of color sort of clashed with theirs. No worries, we just change the tone and make everyone blend. It also gives that feeling of timelessness. The collars are different and the texture is modern but the feeling is reminiscent of photographs of times gone by. And that's what a photograph should be, a memory. A little slice of time preserved and cherished. Call me, let's cherish someone you love. Okay, I agree, let's wait until it stops snowing.
